Do You Struggle Cleaning Your Own Home, Too?
DO YOU STRUGGLE CLEANING YOUR OWN HOME, TOO?
Sure, I own a cleaning company, but cleaning my own home is a whole different ball game, I have to mentally prepare and really set myself up for success or I will waste time procrastinating, getting distracted, and avoiding cleaning altogether. This leads to the mess getting worse, another day wasted, and guilt taking over. Here are a few ways I combat this!
Pray.
Dear God, thank you for my home. Thank you for giving me the ability to physically maintain my home. I pray you help me with the motivation, dedication, focus, time, and energy I need to clean my home so that I can enjoy the weekend with my kids, Amen.
Clean in a Circle.
In a circle? Yes, let me explain! Start on one side of your home. Clean one room at a time, working your way from one side to the other. When you enter the room, choose a side to start from and work your way around the room, cleaning in a circle. In my living room I would start at my entertainment center , clear the top, dust as I go, throw things away or put them in the room they belong in (without getting distracted!) Next, I would dust the fireplace mantel, side tables, and coffee table. After, I would fold all the blankets and straighten the pillows. Last, I would pick up items from the floor, put them away, and vacuum. Repeat in each room! :)
Change it up!
Count the number of rooms/tasks that need to be done. Say it's 6. Cut out 6 small pieces of papers, write out each task and how long it should take [living rooms - 15 mins]. Fold up each piece of paper, mix them up, choose 1 at a time, set a timer, and complete the task! This is also a perfect way to get your kids involved!
